Our thriving cafe and catering business, run by mother and son, Linda and Sam Robinson, is in idyllic settings next to Rudyard lake. The beautiful surroundings attract locals, tourists and specialist groups who use the lake for sailing and other activities. Many of our customers enjoy sitting outside our café with a refreshing cuppa and our bacon baps have a fame of their own. People have been known to travel miles to taste one!

A new venture this summer is to provide a barbeque on hot days so customers can enjoy the outside eating experience to the full. So when Sam has finished the 10am to 2pm shift on the cafe griddle cooking tasty Breakfast Baps and Staffordshire Oatcakes he will fire up the barbeque and sizzle very tasty Hot Dogs and Burgers! We are very involved in the business in fact Sams older brother Jason is now manager of the ice cream company that delivers to the cafe. The soft ice-cream we sell is delicious and very popular in the summer.

The cafe is open every day from Easter until the end of September and then every weekend during the rest of the year. In the summer on Sundays the upstairs function room becomes a tearoom where people love to sit out on the balconies enjoying freshly prepared sandwiches and wonderful homemade cakes. The function room is let out to corporate groups in the week and social events at weekends. Many of these events are catered for by S.D.R. Catering which is Sam’s specialist part of the business. He provides delicious buffets and has accommodated groups from 5 to 150 with some very good appreciative feedback.

What makes our business special? Heart
The cafe has a great team of workers who ensure that customers receive friendly service and value for money. The whole ethos of Rudyard Lake is for people to enjoy the café, the lake and its environment as nature intended. Many comment that the area is delightful at any time of year as each season has something different to offer. Being close to water is a natural draw for most people and just watching others on the lake engaged in their pursuits is a relaxing pastime.
