West Somerset Railway
Enjoy a twenty mile steam train ride on England’s longest steam line between Bishops Lydeard (near Taunton) and Minehead. Along the way the trains pass through the Quantock Hills – an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – the old harbour town of Watchet, Washford for Cleeve Abbey and Torre Cider Farm, and the medieval village with its 100 year old castle.
Facilities: Free parking at all stations except Doniford Halt and Minehead (Council controlled). Specially adapted coaches for disabled passengers and toilets for disabled at Bishops Lydeard, Crowcombe Heathfield and Minehead. Cafes at Bishops Lydeard and Minehead and light refreshments at other stations (except Doniford Halt). Licensed buffet car on most trains.
Opening Times: Trains run on selected dates throughout the year and daily mid-May to the start of October.
Costs: Return fare over the whole line:- £18.50 adult, £16.80 (60 plus), £9.25 (aged 5 to 15).
