Step aboard this permanently moored lightship which guided ships safely through the River Humber for almost 50 years. Imagine its light shining and its fog horn sounding loudly in treacherous waters rescuing boats and ships that had been wrecked.
Go below deck and see the crew’s living quarter and sleeping berths. You can also see the kitchen unit with a gallery stove. It is an interesting and enjoyable experience walking around this lightship with its seven watertight compartments, making it ‘practically unsinkable’.
The whole of the family would enjoy this lightship experience, but please check the opening days and times before you visit as it is not open every day.
Facilities: Not suitable for wheelchair users or those with mobility problems. Please wear sensible shoes and clothing when visiting the vessel.
Opening Times: April to October – Sunday 1.30pm to 4.30pm, but not every Sunday.
