Take a journey through the industrial processes of silk making and explore silk from the cocoon to the loom.
There is also a permanent exhibition that not only shows the properties of silk but also reveals Macclesfield’s diverse textile industry. You will also learn about the lives of workers and all about silk during the war.
There are plenty of hands-on exhibits and historic machinery that will keep the whole family engrossed and interested during a visit here. Plus the museum hosts a variety of temporary exhibitions free of charge.
You will also get the chance to see restored looms weaving with demonstrations made by the museum’s machinery gallery volunteers!
Finally, the Jacquard Tearoom on site is a perfect place for teas, coffees and cakes.
