Museum of Fire
You won’t get hot under the collar at this museum where you will see a vast collection of fire-fighting memorabilia such as fire equipment, fire engines, uniforms, badges and newspaper cuttings. There are also a number of exhibits showing articles including fire hoses and pumps from World War II. You will also see old photographs on display revealing the development of fire-fighting procedures and the change in uniform styles over the years.
Take a tour led by a retired fireman who will give you lots of interesting facts about fire and fire fighting in general. You will also see some very impressive restored fire engines dating from the 1930s to the 1960s, as well as some fine examples of uniforms from these periods.
Opening Times: It is only open to prior arrangement
Costs: Entrance is free, but the museum really appreciates donations.
