If you love being outside, take a walk along an 11 mile greenway from Macclesfield to Marple. The route was formerly a railway line but now it has been transformed to provide a natural attraction for walkers, joggers, cyclists, horses and nature lovers. Middlewood Way was opened on 30th May, 1985 by Dr David Bellamy, the English author, broadcaster, botanist and environmental campaigner.
This pleasant greenway has a wide range of flora and fauna, and you are guaranteed to get some fine views of the Cheshire countryside. It also runs close to the Macclesfield canal so you will be able to enjoy some pretty circular walks.
Whether you want to go on a short walk or a long walk, this greenway is ideal for adults and children who like the outdoor life and want to burn off some steam.
Middlewood Way is great for the whole family, come rain or shine.
Facilities: There are many entry points into Middlewood way.
