Kathleen Agnes Cavendish, Marchioness of Hartington, was the sister of President John F. Kennedy. She tragically died in a plane crash in 1948 at the age of 28 when flying to the South of France on holiday with her new fiancé Earl Fitzwilliam. Her brother, John F. Kennedy, visited Kathleen’s grave about 4pm on Saturday 29th July, 1963.

Kathleen’s grave is situated in grounds of St Peter’s Church in Edensor, Bakewell, and the grave is marked with a headstone and a plaque commemorating the visit of the U.S. President.
