Ilkley Toy Museum
See a wonderful collection of dolls and toys dating back from 350BC to the present day. Enjoy colourful displays of dolls, dolls’ houses, teddy bears, tin plate toys, lead figures, miniature toy soldiers and cowboys and Indians. There is also a fantastic 1940s working model fairground you can feast your eyes on. And you will definitely smile at ‘Blanche’, a white mohair teddy bear that escaped with her Jewish owner to England at the start of the war.
Admire the wonderful 1830s two-terraced London toy houses with original wallpaper and see the tin plate toilet with a working flush in the bedroom. There’s also a ‘mad’ professor in the attic.
This museum offers enjoyment and pleasure to any age. As you wander around the building, why not let your imagination go and remember the times you played with similar toys and games. You will also have the chance to buy unusual and traditional games, jigsaws and toys at the gift shop.
