Exmoor Owl and Hawk Centre
See one of the finest collections of flown owls in the world at this delightful 15th century farmstead with beautiful gardens and thatched barns. Visit the owl garden with a Brown Wood Owl, Spectacled Owl, Great Grey Owl, Chaco Owl, Peruvian Striped Owl and Mottled Owl.
Watch an owl display in a slide show set to music in a Medieval thatched threshing barn. You will listen to ‘Walking in the Air’ with a Barn Owl named Caspar flying over your head. It is truly an amazing experience, but it is only on in the morning. However, there is also an afternoon display with a Palmnut Vulture, an Australian Kookaburra, a Tawny Eagle and a dynamic Eurasian Buzzard.
Mingle with alpacas from South America, Kune Kune pigs from New Zealand, macaws from South America, miniature Mediterranean donkeys from Sardinia and miniature Shetland ponies. There are also various ducks, chickens, geese and swans you can come close up to. Many of these lovely creatures are happy to live and graze together, mingling around in one big group, which is a rare sight today.
After a wonderful animal experience, relax in the Macaws Tea Gardens and enjoy a Somerset cream tea while you look out at the beautiful countryside. A day out at this centre tucked away in Porlock Vale near Exmoor National Park, will be a memorable and enjoyable experience for all.
