24-28 The Strand Derby England DE1 GB

This museum established in 1879 has interesting displays of local natural history, military history and archaeology. It also holds a wonderful collection of Derby Porcelain and Royal Crown Derby. You can also take a close look at one of the oldest boats in the world, the Hanson Logboat, which is over 3,400 years old and made from a single oak tree trunk.

Visit the Joseph Wright Gallery and enjoy a large range of Wright’s paintings, which have been collected by the museum over the past 130 years. The arrangements of this famous painter’s work will also help you see how Wright changed his style and subject matter over the course of his career, and you will get the chance to look at some of the artist’s personal items and artistic equipment. You can also enjoy many other paintings from artists such as Benjamin West, William Wood, David Payne and many more.
