Cotebrook Shire Horse Centre
This Shire Horse Centre and Countryside Park, which is home to the internationally renowned Cotebrook Shire Horse Stud, provides a very interesting day out. Set in 50 acres of beautiful countryside you’ll see the largest breed of horse in the world and meet Stallions, Mares and Foals. You can also learn about this fabulous breed of horse by asking any of the centre’s friendly and informative staff who are more than willing to share their knowledge with you.
You will also see other wonderful animals such as Shetland Ponies, Middle White Pigs and piglets, Hebridean Sheep, Hens, Ducks and Peacocks. The centre also has wildlife such as Otters, Polecats, Red Foxes and Red Deer that have either been born in captivity or rescued from the wild because of injuries. You will also see a small flock of Lohmann Brown Hens running around in the woodland area in the Holly Bush field and you’ll get the chance to see some birds of prey and game birds. If you are feeling energetic, you could stroll around the centre’s mile-long nature trail and view the lake from above and then afterwards have a picnic overlooking the duck pond. There is also a lakeside cafe with a balcony over the lake offering tranquil views for everybody to enjoy.
