British Lawnmower Museum

106-112 Shakespeare St, Southport PR8 5AJ
114-128 Shakespeare Street Southport England PR8 GB

See an amazing collection of vintage lawnmowers at this internationally famous museum, which started as a family business in 1945. See the fastest lawnmowers invented, the most expensive lawnmowers sold and the lawnmowers that Prince Charles and Princess Diane loved. Be amazed with the water-cooled ‘egg’ boiler lawnmover and the snow scooter motor-powered by lawnmower engines. You will even see the first solar-powered ROBOT mower!

Visitors will also get a glimpse of an 1830s lawnmover invented by Beard Budding when he was working in a textile mill in Stroud, Gloucester. Originally the machine was designed to trim the knap off cloth, but he decided to use it to cut grass instead even though people thought he was a lunatic and a madman at the time!

Don’t let the grass grow under your feet, visit this museum and see the mowing wonders from over the last 200 years. When you are there, you can go on an audio tour or book a guided tour where you will learn all about the extraordinary history of garden machine industry and see how the museum is devoted to keeping a small part of British engineering heritage alive.

Opening Times: 9.00 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. (Monday – Saturday)
