Bolton Steam Museum
See the largest collection of working mill steam engines in the UK and be amazed with precision engineering at its best. Witness an impressive Stenter Engine, a Tangye Horizontal Engine, a National Engine, Oil and Gas Engines and many more.
On most Bank Holiday weekends (except Easter), the engines are all working in steam and can be seen in motion under power. Children can also have fun filling in an interesting questionnaire as they walk around. You never know, they might even teach Mum and Dad something too!
This venue makes an interesting few hours and both young and old will enjoy their time at this marvellously clean and friendly museum.
Facilities: The museum is located adjacent to Morrisons Supermarket car-park with over 700 spaces available, which museum visitors are free to use. The spaces near to the museum are almost always empty and there is also a small visitors car-park immediately adjacent to one of the museum entrances with a parking space for blue-badge holders.
Opening Times: The museum is open most Wednesdays and Sundays, but visit their website for Opening Days.
Costs: Free entrance but donations are welcomed.
