Belper River Gardens
Visit these lovely riverside gardens located within the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage site, and enjoy the tranquil settings of the River Derwent.
Watch the swans, ducks and moorhens swim by in the widest point of the river and feast your eyes on colourful flowerbeds and shrubberies. This is a lovely relaxing place where you can spend hours enjoying the peace and quiet, especially on a sunny day.
From April to September, you can hire a boat and row along the longest stretch of the river towards Ambergate. In summer you can watch and listen to brass band concerts which take place in the beautiful copper-topped bandstand situated in the centre of the gardens. You will also get the opportunity to see professional outdoor theatre performances there as well.
There is also a featured play area for children and an ice cream van on site.
Opening Times: Open all year round during daylight hours
Costs: Admission is free. The boats are open from May until September.
