Abbey House Museum
Dress up in Victorian clothes and take a trip back in time as you stroll along recreated Victorian streets with quirky shops, a traditional public house, a school room and an undertakers. Children and adults can also engage in the museum’s interactive activities which are educational and fun to do.
Take a stroll upstairs to the Childhood Galleries and see a lovely collection of toys that will certainly bring back memories or have you smiling. Look out for the penny-slot machine, the 18th-century clockwork clown and the 19th-century doll’s house. You will also see lots of teddy bears, dolls, Corgi cars, board games and other childhood classics, like a 1970s Dalek and an Action Man.
This museum, with its friendly and informative staff, makes a great day out for all the family. There is also a café on site serving light snacks.
